Following the recent publication of the Building Safety Act, which removes the need for a Building Safety Manager, Shellen are pleased to see that many Social Landlords in particular or recruiting for such roles within their organisations. That coupled with the fire safety regulations also recently published with a need for quarterly checks of communal fire doors in buildings over 11 storeys will require Landlords to incorporate the building safety considerations and compliance requirements by law.
Shellen design, manufacture and install bespoke fire doors and screens which are important elements of your buildings passive fire protection. Previously there was a requirement for six monthly checks of all doors. Now this is quarterly for communal doors in buildings over 11 storeys and annual checks for all other fire doors including flat-entrance doors, where there needs to be a golden-thread emphasis on evidencing a plan and the the steps taken to achieve these annual checks for flat entrance doors.
Please get in touch to discuss fire doors and any challenges or needs you have and we will arrange a call or come see you.
